Sacred crossing of Lake Suwa
A natural phenomenon that appears when Lake Suwa is completely frozen. As the ice expands and contracts due to the difference in temperature between day and night, it cracks and a huge streak of ice runs across the surface of the lake, stretching several kilometers in length. Scientifically speaking, it is called the ``ice saddle-like upheaval phenomenon\'\'.
A little while ago (February 4th of this year), Yatsurugi Shrine expressed the opinion that it would be difficult for the mitowatari to appear this season, and declared that it would be a \"sea of dawn\" (no migamiwata to appear). The state is called the \"Awakeningumi\"). The last time it appeared was in 2018, and it has been the ``Sea of Dawn\'\' for six consecutive years, perhaps due to the effects of global warming.
