Felis (Felis) is one of the constellations that is no longer in use. It was once located between the constellations Hydra and Pump, but it is no longer included in the current 88 constellations.
Inventor and time of appearance: Invented by Jérôme Lalande in 1799 and first depicted in Johann Bode's star map Uranographia in 1801.
Lalande's love for cats: Lalande is a very loving cat person, with ``3 domestic dogs (Canis Major, Canis Minor, and Canis Major) and 3 wild cats (Leo, Minor, and Lynx). "There is a constellation for cats, but there is no constellation for domestic cats," he lamented.
Current Status: Currently not in use, it is rarely seen on star maps.
